Case Study: Native American Lands Environmental Mitigation Program
For several decades, the Makah Tribe has endeavored to characterize and remediate contamination in the lands and waters of their reservation in the northwest corner of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Substantial environmental impacts have resulted from former military facilities and operations. For the Tribe, streams, creeks, plants, animals and ocean are essential cultural and subsistence resources that they wish to restore and protect.
